Ante-natal Care – We are keen to see all our own ante-natal patients during normal surgery times and share their care with the hospital and the community midwife. 

Family Planning – All doctors and nurses are fully qualified to give family planning advice during normal appointment times. We do not have separate family planning clinics. We also offer a coil fitting and contraceptive implant service. 

Baby Clinic – Monthly on first Tuesday between 2pm and 4.30pm with the health visitor – please book an appointment. The purpose of the clinic is to answer queries, have your baby immunised or weighed and to give advice to parents about any problems. If you would like to come at a different time please phone the surgery number and ask to speak to the health visitor to arrange a mutually convenient time. Regular consultations are also available with a doctor, please telephone for an appointment. Normally the health visitor will send you an appointment for developmental checks and reminders about immunisations. Immunisations are normally carried out by the practice nurses, additionally on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4.30pm by the health visitor. 

Cervical Smears –  We strongly encourage all women between the ages of 20 and 65 to have a cervical smear at regular intervals. Arrange an appointment with the nurse at your convenience. We have an automatic computerised recall system for patients. If your smear showed an abnormality you will be asked to attend more frequently.  If yo u have had a cervical screen outside the practice, privately or abroad, please let us know by calling us or providing us with a copy so we can keep update your records. 

Minor Surgery – These procedures are performed by the doctor and nurse at the end of morning surgery. This service is temporarily on hold. 

Anticoagulation Clinic – We are keen to monitor all patients taking warfarin.  You can be seen by the nurse during normal clinic times but please inform the receptionist that this is the reason why you are attending. 

Smoking Cessation – We offer smoking cessation advice and support— please make an appointment with the practice smoking advisor who is here at the surgery every Thursday afternoon. 

Wart Clinic – This is held twice a month on Wednesday afternoons and is run by the doctor. This service is temporarily on hold. 

Well Person Checks –It is important to have regular check-ups with your doctor or the nurse to discuss your lifestyle and advise on ways to minimise your health risk factors. This service is free and willingly provided. 

Cervical Screening Test – Our nurses are qualified to carry out cervical screening and tests in the form of cervical smears. In order to have a cervical smear the patient must have received a letter requesting that they have a cervical smear and the appointment must please be made for when the patient is not menstruating.These appointments typically take around 15 minutes. Emergency Contraception –If you’ve forgotten to take your pill, your condom split or you’ve had unprotected sex in the last 72 hours then you may need emergency contraception, and the sooner you take it the better. Emergency contraception is available free from Contraception and Sexual Health Services, some GPs (family doctors) and most pharmacies (chemists), even if you’re under 16.
